Fellow Code Campers,
At long last, we are happy to announce registration for the 4th annual Atlanta Code Camp is now open.

What: All day geek fest focusing on code and not marketing fluff.
When: Saturday, March, 29, 2008 All day (doors open at 7:30)
Cost: Free! (If you are not satisfied, we promise a full refund.)
Where: Devry University in Decatur – 250 North Arcadia Ave, Decatur, GA 30030 (view map)
Speakers and Agenda: Currently being finalized. Check the www.AtlantaCodeCamp.com website over the next week to see the finalized version.

To attend the event, you must register at the following link so that we can make sure to have food to feed you. http://www.clicktoattend.com/invitation.aspx?code=126492. If you don’t register, we can’t guarantee that you will be eligible for food or swag.
During the Code Camp, lunch will be provided at no cost to you. After the event, we are planning on gathering in a local eatery to continue any discussions which we were not able to complete by our 5:30 pm end time. Location information will be made available at the event.
The Atlanta Code Camps have historically "sold out" extremely rapidly and we don’t expect this time to be any different. Please register quickly to lock in your spot as we are capping registration and attendance due to facility limitations. If you miss the registration cap, contact mailto:volunteer@atlantacodecamp.org to see if we can come to some other arrangement, otherwise you will have to wait until next year’s event. Don’t miss out.
We hope you can join us for this exciting and informative event.

Visual Studio 2008 Overview for Architects

Speaker: Doug Turnure

If your job as a Software Architect is to research and exploit technology to help achieve business results – then you need to take a look at what has just been released in Visual Studio 2008 and the .NET Framework 3.5. In this talk we will discuss several of the many new features you need to understand and explore to be able to fully leverage these new capabilities in your environment, including multi-targeting support, new features for SOA, and web enhancements. Finally, we will discuss the road ahead and preview some of the local architect, web design, and developer events that you can use to help further your understanding of Microsoft platform and development technologies.

About the speaker:  Doug Turnure is a Developer Evangelist with Microsoft Corporation, focusing on emerging technologies. He serves in the community as a developer, author, trainer, and occasional conference speaker. His specialties include .NET internals, memory management, and distributed communication, although he enjoys anything pertaining to .NET. Prior to joining Microsoft, he spent five years as an instructor and course author with DevelopMentor and Aggelos, Inc. Doug is based in Atlanta, GA.

ASP.Net and SharePoint

Speaker: Doug Ware

The chances are good that you’ve seen some flavor of SharePoint 2007 in action by now. You’ve probably heard that this version is built using managed code and ASP.Net.

And yet, for many, SharePoint remains a mystery; even those who understand ASP.Net. This presentation is not about what SharePoint does. This presentation is a high-level view of how SharePoint works and extends ASP.Net 2.0.

If you are developing solutions for SharePoint or integrating existing solutions with SharePoint this presentation will give you a deeper understanding and demystify SharePoint.

On the other hand, if you are an ASP.Net developer with no desire to use SharePoint, this presentation will show you some interesting elements of ASP.Net that you might not know exist.

About the speaker:  Doug Ware is the owner and founder of eLumenotion Training and Consulting and specializes in SharePoint and related tools. Doug is the leader of the Atlanta .Net User Group and author of Microsoft SharePoint 2007 for Developers, available from AppDev.
